What a Shame!

The Olympic Games ended yesterday, without Nigeria picking up any medal, what a shame! Its a reflection of the state of the nation called Nigeria. Systemic failure at the top boiling down to every facet of national life. Every time, there is a major event,we always starts preparation at the dying minutes and always rely on luck, which so far so good has become elusive
.Always seeking for Divine help instead of making our own best efforts at preparing and relying on luck afterwards of course at times in life you need luck, but that shouldnt be at the detriment of human efforts. Also its nothing short of ridiculous that Nigeria could only participates in a paltry 8 events at the Games. Our usual strong point the Male Soccer event, we could'nt qualify citing the excuse of Ghana Using Voodoo against our Under23 national team in edging us out in the qualifying knockout round. What a shame! Silver Medalist in Beijing Four years later, couldnt even qualify. The only reason for this is Corruption, which has eaten deep into the fabric of the nations economy. In a situation where you can only make the team if you know some people at the top, or you can Tip the big bosses upstairs or maybe if you are a female can go "down under" with them, What a Pity! How them can we expect to perform against Credible teams from around the world. The captain of team nigeria at the games The son of a Serving senator from Abia State, to be candid is a good athlete in his sport Taekwando, but there are other good guys out there who might even be better than him but would never be selected bacause they are not connected. Well, as a Nigerian myself, i hope one day we would see reason in setting aside our personal sentiments and prejudice in favour of merit, it is only then that we can move forward as a nation. At this juncture permit me to say Amandla Awetu- Notthing Shall Discourage Us
